About 600 delegates participated in the 3-day online training programme on “Disaster Management and Response during Calamities and Supply Chain Management in Present Pandemic Context”, jointly organised by Shoolini University and National Institute for Disaster Management (NIDM), which concluded on Thursday.
The Valedictory address was delivered by Mr D.C. Rana, Director-cum-Special Secretary, (Revenue-DM), Himachal Government. He talked at length about various steps taken by Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Department during the COVID lockdown. He explained how medical care was taken and how migrants labourers were provided food.
Vice-chancellor Prof P K Khosla also addressed the delegates and expressed the hope that the training session would have benefitted all the delegates.
Brig. Neeraj Parashar, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Shoolini University delivered the Vote of thanks and said the programme was a huge success.
Earlier, the first technical session was held by Brig Vinod Dutta on the topic “Role of SCM in Disaster risk reduction. He talked about the supply chain shortages, challenges, skills that are required by future supply chain managers.
The second session was taken up by Col. Tarun Parashar on the Topic “ Retaining Supply Chain Integrity in Adversity – The Military Logisticians Perspective.” He delivered a very informative session on the vulnerability of supply chains.
The first technical session on Wednesday was held by Brig Vinod Dutta on the topic “SCM in Global and Indian context and effect of COVID-19” He talked about the Global Supply chain Management integrating principles, Competencies needed for the global SCM, Global Supply Chain Management factors, Main Advantages and Goals of Global Supply chain.
The second session was taken by Mr Abhishek, a member of EarthJust Ecosystems, Sangeeta Industries, Berry Clean and the Convener of the Solan District Inter-Agency Group. He talked about “A Case study of SCM success: Leveraging of micro enterprises to reinstate disrupted supply chain”?
He talked about making use of wet waste to prepare compost and grow herbs, mushrooms, make different items like jams at home, and even selling those and become self-reliant .
Last session was taken by Lt Col DC Vashista about the “Innovations in SCM” like Internet of things, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Analytics, Robots and Automation, COBOTS, 3D printing.
