The Haryana Director-General Health Services (DGHS) issued an advisory to all Civil Surgeons across the state on Wednesday, directing them to postpone elective surgeries, including dental procedures, till March 31.

Besides, the doctors at the government hospitals have been directed not to advise revisits of patients to the hospitals till the said date and provide/advise medicines for at least 30 days to the patients suffering from chronic diseases. The district health authorities have also been asked to advise the patients to come to the hospitals only in case of real necessity, apart from carrying out micro-planning to reduce the rush of patients in all departments of the hospitals.

“You are further directed to get these measures implemented in private hospitals as well,” the communique maintains.

The Civil Surgeons have also been advised to identify and contact retired doctors and paramedical staffers so that their services may be utilised in case of emergency.

On the other hand, a heavy rush of patients continues to be seen at the OPDs of the Rohtak PGIMS, which may increase the chances of the spread of Covid. Vice-Chancellor of Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, Dr OP Kalra maintained that they would be implementing government orders on curtailing OPD timings/registration hours and postponing elective surgeries at PGIMS
