Gurbachan Singh, who has served as DSP Mandi (bureau) Himachal Pradesh Police, has been awarded the President’s Police Medal Award for distinguished services.
Presently DSP Gurbachan Singh is serving in Sundernagar. He was awarded by SP Mandi Shalini Agnihotri.
Gurbachan Singh was born in the year 1965 in Thadoh village of Bilaspur district and Gurbachan Singh has been serving in Himachal Pradesh Police Department for the last 36 years.
Gurbachan Singh said that in 1984, he startes his journey as a constable in Junga and from 1987 to 2003, he was posted as Instructor with promotion to the post of Head Constable in Police Training College and Center Junga. After this, Gurbachan Singh Ranaut took charge of Police Station Palampur after being promoted as ASI in 2003 and became Sub Inspector in Palampur Police Station in 2007. In 2007, Gurbachan Singh was posted as SHO for the first time in police station Ani after Sadar Kullu. After working in Police Station Ani till 2011, SHO McLeodganj by 2014 and became Inspector in 2014, Palampur remained in charge of the station till 2017. After taking over SHO Sundernagar in the year 2017, Gurbachan Singh Ranaut is still serving as DSP Sundernagar after getting DSP promotion in 2019. DSP Gurbachan Singh Ranaut, who received the President’s Police Medal, has also been awarded nearly 90 citation by the Police Department for distinguished services during his tenure.
Gurbachan Singh is the National Institute of Sports (NIS) qualified coach of volleyball. Gurbachan Singh has also represented the volleyball team at the national level several times in Police Department sports. DSP Gurbachan Singh Ranaut has always secured first place in departmental training. During the tenure of DSP Sundernagar Gurbachan Singh Ranaut, there have been cases of triple murder registered at Palampur police station in Kangra and seizure of 16 kg charas in Ani police station of Kullu district.

Along with this, Manoj Walia, in-charge of Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Mandi District Police has also been awarded the President’s Police Medal for outstanding and clear service.
